ROLLING AHEAD
“Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther…. And one fine morning — So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
As another roller coaster year drifts from present to memory, we again look forward to a new chapter in all of our lives. While the requirements for a Happy New Year remain constant, the path toward each of
our own proverbial green light is an unmarked path.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that school districts nationwide are canceling classes to provide needed mental health days for students and teachers alike. This coming after a year of remote learning indicates that the paths ahead are open to careful reconsideration for not only education, but throughout society. For that, I suspect we should all be grateful.
Nonetheless, as we look to this holiday season and the New Year, we remain committed to not lapsing in to a failure-to-launch patters that has become as synonymous with the pandemic as “supply chain issues,” masks, and social distancing. Balancing the social needs of our members and employees are equally paramount in the New Year and presents the most complicated current challenge. This industry and our teams remain committed to reinventing ourselves again for the world ahead whereby our clubs are more available along with our staffs for their personal lives.
In other timeless news, Fitzgerald also pointed out nearly 100 years ago: “too much of anything is bad but too much champagne is just right.”
Cheers to you and your families,
