Wish You Were Here: The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa

SAPPERS AND MINERS

“Savannah Harbor can lull you to sleep with the beautiful views of historic Savannah and the Talmadge Bridge which is visible from all 18 holes. One hole that commands your full attention is the shortest par 4 on the course, No. 14, called “Sappers and Miners.” From the back tee it measures 324 yards, so for the big hitters it is driveable, but beware. There is a marsh that runs down the entire left side of the hole and trees lining the right from tee to green. Sometimes it is a better option to lay up about 100 yards out to the left side of the fairway for the best opportunity to get a good putt for birdie as the green slopes hard from right to left, bringing the marsh into play. If played the way Bob Cupp and Sam Snead intended, the hole should give you a birdie opportunity or at least a tap-in par!”
