Troon Value: Infectiously Energetic With Teg Lozano

Teg Lozano
Director of Tennis, Rome Tennis Center at Berry College (Rome, GA)

Teg Lozano Director of Tennis Rome Tennis CenterQ: What is a good stretching or meditation series you like your students to partake in prior to starting their sport/activity:

A: I’m very big on functional mobility and flexibility. I think it’s very important for athletes of all ages to be flexible/mobile enough to play the sport they love and be able to get up and do their everyday activities. For tennis players, it’s huge to have great flexibility and mobility in the shoulders to execute various shots and help prevent injuries.

Q: What is a goal you have for yourself to promote better mental/physical wellbeing in 2024?

A: A goal of mine in 2024 is to find more ways to incorporate flexibility/mobility routines into my teaching programs. I would also like to continue to educate my staff on the value of getting their athletes to find a flexibility/mobility routine that works for them. As coaches, it is our job to instruct and push athletes to try and make more positive choices and build habits that will help them stick with tennis injury free for the long run.

Q: What is one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know?

A: I am ambidextrous. I can write and do most things well with both my left and right hands. If I had to play myself in a tennis match, I think my right-handed self would win. My left-handed backhand is terrible.
